FAILE: Savage/Sacred Young Minds

Exhibition Graphics

FAILE: Savage/Sacred Young Minds includes large-scale paintings, sculptures, The FAILE & BÄST Deluxx Fluxx Arcade (a nostalgic nod to video arcades, punk rock, and graffiti culture), and Temple (a life-size structure reminiscent of a ruined religious temple). A Brooklyn-based collaboration between artists Patrick McNeil and Patrick Miller, FAILE raises questions about our relationship to consumer culture, religious traditions, and the urban environment by blurring the boundaries between fine art, street art, and popular culture.

The exhibition graphics were inspired by the dichotomy of the energetic Deluxx Fluxx Arcade and the more contemplative Temple. The title treatment was informed by the neon lights and vibrant color palette found throughout the Arcade. And the wall text, set in a quieter, less obtrusive sans serif typeface, provides the opportunity for thoughtful reflection while allowing the artwork to stand prominently in the foreground.
